Satyagraha

Revanta Sarabhai, Philip Glass | Dario Fo, Korzo producties, Zangam Choir

In 2013, the Korzo Theatre (Den Haag) initiated the first ever Hindustani Choir in the Netherlands. In 2014, this choir was partnered with the western Dario Fo choir for the opening of Holland-India Festival together with the Residentie Orkest. It was the beginning of a new collaboration.

In 2015, they embarked on a unique new project, with the support of world famous composer Philip Glass — the opera Satyagraha was set for the two choirs, thus fulfilling conductor Rick Schoonbeek’s long-cherished dream. Choreographed by Revanta Sarabhai with direction by Leo Spreksel, act-I of this production previewed at the Korzo India Dans Festival in October 2015.

The full opera with a larger cast and a full symphony orchestra was completed in 2016 and has been performed across Holland from 2017 to 2018.
